Dr. John Bailey first joined Leesville Animal Hospital as an Associate Veterinarian in 2012 and is happily back this year to work with this wonderful team and be closer to family. He is a proud native North Carolinian, born and raised here in Raleigh. As a young boy, he developed a true passion for animals, often caring for many strays and assisting with the birth of kittens. He soon had a home with multiple companions: cats, dogs, gerbils, hermit crabs, fish, lizards, and garter snakes.
Dr Bailey attended NC State as an undergrad majoring in Animal Science, graduating with Honors in 1997. He served as Chaplain for the national co-ed honor society Phi Sigma Pi. In 2001, he received his DVM from NC College of Veterinary Medicine. His special interests include internal medicine, advanced soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries. Throughout his career, Dr Bailey has strived to provide the very best medical care with compassion to his patients. He truly cares and adores the animals that have been entrusted to his care and values the respectful relationships he has with his clients and treats them like family.
Dr Bailey is married to his college sweetheart and has four beautiful and amazing children. He has three rescued cats named Elliot, Charlie, and Fish. His hobbies include reading classic books, collecting comic books, and watching movies. His favorite author is James Herriot who wrote the inspiring story “All Creatures Great and Small”. His favorite movies include Star Wars, Harry Potter, and the Lord of the Rings. He enjoys time with his wife and children having fun at the local parks, exploring museums, strolls on the beach, and hiking in the mountains.
