Dr. Amy Neligon was born and raised in the small town of Wethersfield, Connecticut. She knew she wanted to be a veterinarian at an early age as it was a career that combined her love of animals with her interest in science. As a child, she was always surrounding herself with a menagerie of cats, dogs, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, turtles, fish and even crayfish.
Dr Neligon received her Bachelor of Science degree in Marine and Freshwater Biology from the University of New Hampshire. She then went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude from Oklahoma State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004. She joined the Leesville Animal Hospital team in 2005. Dr Neligon has been passionate about providing exceptional veterinary care and support to both her patients and her clients. She considers and treats her patients as family members and has built lasting relationships with their owners over the years. She is now the Lead Veterinarian and takes pride in sharing what she has learned through her career with the newer generation of veterinarians. Her professional interests include internal medicine, ophthalmology, dermatology, and soft tissue surgery.
Dr Neligon is an honorary member of the Durham Highway Fire Department for the support and care of Angus over the years. She is also a member of the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association (NCVMA) as well as a USDA accredited veterinarian.
Dr Neligon is married to her high school sweetheart and has three wonderful kids together. She also shares her home with a Siamese cat rescue (Willow), a chihuahua/poodle rescue (Brady), a Betta fish (Wasabi), and six cherry shrimp. In her free time, Dr Neligon enjoys reading, gardening, home renovations, spending time with family, coffee with friends, and relaxing on the beach.
