Puppy Pre-School

It is no secret that proper training is critical to a successful dog owning experience, but did you know that the experiences your puppy has during its first six months shape its personality for the rest of its life? It is absolutely essential that your puppy receive positive experiences during this time. These experiences must include people, animals and things outside its immediate household and circle of friends. This is referred to as socialization and is the single most important thing you can do with your puppy before it is six months old! An easy and fun way to provide proper socialization is to enroll your new puppy in a Puppy Pre-School class.

Leesville Animal Hospital is excited to announce that we offer these classes to our clients through our Puppy Pre-School program. In addition to the many socialization opportunities your puppy receives at Puppy Pre-School, the class introduces you and your puppy to basic obedience commands. At Puppy Pre-School, you learn ways to housebreak your new puppy and common problems associated with raising a puppy are addressed.

If your puppy is between ten weeks and four months of age, and is current on all vaccines, it is eligible for our Puppy Pre-School program. Please call our office if you would like more information. You and your puppy attend class once a week for four weeks and classes are conveniently scheduled on Saturday. Come join the fun and reward yourself with a pet that can provide you with quality companionship for years to come!

Topics in class will include:

  1. Potty training and crate training
  2. Inappropriate behaviors such as chewing, biting and jumping
  3. Leash training
  4. Introduction to basic commands
  5. Preparation for vet/groomer visits
  6. Socialization with people and other dogs

Socialization class will help you get off to a positive start with your new pet by teaching you to train your puppy without the use of punishment. Come join other new puppy owners for a fun and informative time. All family members are welcome.
